On
Wednesday March 31st 1965, the JFA (Jamaica Football Association) gave
way to the JFF (Jamaica Football Federation). The transformation took
place at ALCAN Jamaica during the first JFF Congress, and Mr. Ronald
Gordon was elected President.

The
Jamaica Football Federation is a member of FIFA and CONCACAF. Its
current president is Cpt. Horace Burrell.
Some of its Principles and Objectives include:
§
A. To
promote and develop the game of football in Jamaica in every way, and
through the game of football develop national pride, unity and
culture.
§
B. To
foster friendly relationship among peoples, especially among officials
and players, both nationally and internationally by encouraging
football matches at all levels-amateur, semi-professional,
professional, and in all other appropriate ways.
§
C. To
improve standards and enhance the image of the game of football by
taking such steps as shall be deemed necessary or advisable for
preventing infringements of the game as laid down by the International
Association of Football (FIFA) and the International Football
Association Board.
§
D. To
prevent racial, religious or political discrimination or distinction
among players whether their status be amateur, semi-professional or
professional.
Structure:
§
The JFF
consists of Confederations, Parish Associations and Minor
Associations, which control football on behalf of the JFF in their
respective areas
§
The
Federation embraces six national teams: Under 15, Under 17, Under 20,
Under 23, and the Senior Team and the recently incorporated Women’s
Football team.
§
The
National Football Programme takes special care of the junior teams in
order to prepare the foundation for strong future senior teams.
World Cup 98:
§
The
feeling of glory, the sense of achievement and pride brought by the
Reggae Boyz qualification for France 98 still remain, and the JFF
intends to heighten the football interest through the promotion and
development of the game on a national scale, while fostering national
unity.
§
At the
moment, the JFF is the nucleus of the football movement in Jamaica and
the main organizer of all the activities of the national teams. Its
main objective is to consolidate the Football Programme in Jamaica by
way of its promotion and development.
§
In
light of these endeavours, the JFF organizes major national
competitions like the Cash Plus Premier and Coca-Cola U-21 National leagues.
. The season starts in October and finishes in April
each year.
