JAMAICA CONTINUES PREPARATION FOR INAUGURAL UNDER 17 WOMENS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

CONCACAF today announced that the draw for the first round groups to the CONCACAF Womens Under 17 Championship will take place on Tuesday, May 6 in the CONCACAF offices in New York. The Group Round will be held July 17-26, 2008 in Bacolet and Macoya, Trinidad and Tobago

Preparations continue for Jamaica’s participation in this Inaugral Under 17 Women’s Competition with the re-convening of a training camp beginning today. Training sessions will be held on Saturday, April 26 at the Constant Spring Football Club at 7:00am and at the Barbican Football Field at the same time on Sunday morning.

The Camp is under the direction of National Assistant Coaches Alfredo Montesso, Luciano Gama and National Under 17 Assistant Coach, Junior Francis.

The Squad includes five Under 15 players as the Technical Staff also begins preparation for the Inaugural CFU/ Under 15 Girls Tournament also to be held in the summer of this year.

National Assistant Coach Gama has expressed satisfaction with preparation to date and the quality of talent unfolding.

In an effort to strengthen the all-round preparation of the squad a medical symposium was held with the players on Tuesday, April 22. The National Under 17 players received presentations from Dr. Paul Wright who spoke on substance abuse; Dr.Wendell Gutherie and Dr. Mark Minott who presented on the nutrition requirements of the athlete.

The Symposium was organized by the Medical Committee of the JFF which is chaired by Dr. Guyan Arscott.
