President Captain Horace Burrell,
the Board of Directors and the entire Jamaica Football Federation
administration wish to express sincerest condolences and sympathy
to the family and friends of Mr. Herbert “Herb” McKenley. The
Federation’s thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Mr. McKenley’s sterling
contribution to the field of athletics has served to unite and
inspire generations of Jamaicans locally and internationally. He
triumphed at a time when very few believed that our island nation
could produce athletes of his calibre.
His devout love for Jamaica and
Athletics were manifested even further with his contribution to
Athletic development through administration of the sport and
coaching the young.
Although his impact was primarily
in athletics, the outstanding qualities and values he brought to
sport no doubt has inspired others in other disciplines
Mr. McKenley’s achievements both
on and off the field will be a constant source of encouragement to
our young in all sporting endeavours and the excellence that
distinguished his endeavours leaves a legacy of which his family,
friends and the nation can be extremely proud
