The Jamaican Under 20 Women’s team was treated to lunch and a tour by the Jamaican Consulate in Havana, Cuba on Thursday, after topping their group in the Caribbean Football Union Under 20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers with the maximum six points.

The group was taken on a bus ride around the capital city, visting various locations and learning about the culture of the island under the patronage of executive secretary Elizabeth Elaine King. The girls were then treated to lunch at the Galica Restaurant.

Midfielder Marlo Sweatman paid homage to the consulate on behalf of the team and King declared that it was an honour having the young ladies, who had made them very proud, in Cuba.

The Jamaican consulate gave tremendous support to the girls on their one-week stay in the island, attending and supporting them during the two games they played, and checking in on them daily at the Kohly hotel to ensure that they were comfortable.

Emails were sent to Jamaican students studying in Cuba informing them of the team’s participation in the tournament and many came out and supported the team during the two matches.
