Jamaica Football Federation president, Captain Horace Burrell, says FIFA’s sensational expansion of the World Cup from 32 to 48 teams is a welcome move.
But the CONCACAF vice-president cautioned along the lines that there is still a long way to go in fine-tuning the details, plus he hopes that the allocation will be equitable.
“These new arrangements are obviously very complex, but it’s clear that those who are in charge have given a lot of thought to the increase and the new format.
“In terms of the allocations, I hope they will be equitable and this new format and the increase must be done properly. And apart from the business side of it, this proposed new direction must continue to benefit the sport as a source of entertainment, plus it must have strong benefits from a development point of view,” said Burrell.
