Jamaica’s National Under 17 squad will get a third chance at competitive international preparation when they face the Cuban National Under 17 team in two games in Jamaica on February 26 and February 28th.

Cuba will also be participating in the CONCACAF Under 17 Championship in Panama in Group B. Cuba will be alongside Costa Rica; Canada and Suriname whilst Jamaica is in Group C alongside Mexico; USA and El Salvador. Jamaica plays its first game against the USA on April 23rd and Cuba its first game on April 22nd.

The CONCACAF Under 17 Championship will be played April 21 to May 7.

It was Cuba who defeated Jamaica at the CFU second stage level leading Cuba into the Caribbean Finals with Haiti and positioning Jamaica to third. Haiti subsequently defeated Cuba to be crowned Caribbean Under 17 Champions and also qualify with Jamaica; Cuba; Curacao and Suriname from the Caribbean.

The match up will therefore be excellent competition for Jamaica following matches against USA and Canada at the end of 2016.

The matches against Cuba will come just under a month of the full residential camp of Jamaica’s Under 17’s and therefore will further help the technical staff in assessing the preparedness of the squad.

The Cuban National Under 17 team will arrive into the island on February 24.
