JFF’s Shaw charts course in women’s football leadership

Debra Shaw is seen as the cool wind, a breath of fresh air even, that caresses the corridors of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) offices in New Kingston.

As she climbs football’s administrative ladder, Shaw has placed her foot on yet another rung by having the distinction of recently becoming the first Jamaican to be selected and trained for the FIFA’s Female Leadership Development Programme (FLDP).

The Jamaican is one of 33 women from as many countries to have been trained in the second batch of this special programme designed to develop and empower women in football.

The affable Shaw recently received her FLDP certification in Amsterdam, Netherlands. FLDP is a programme introduced by FIFA to help educate and increase the number of female leaders and role models in football. The inaugural edition took place in Vancouver, Canada, last July during the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Read more
