National Female coaches on scouting mission

National Under 17 and Under 20 female coaches,  Xavier Gilbert and Lorne Donaldson are currently on a scouting mission in Florida to look at Under 17 and Under 20 players who could be part of the upcoming CONCACAF Caribbean Women’s Under 17 and Under 20 Qualifiers. Preparations have been in train for the past five months in Jamaica and this mission could help in fine-tuning the final squads.

Assistant coach of the Under 20 team, Xavier Gilbert has indicated that approximately twenty-two players will be looked at, mainly in the Under 20 category. These are mainly players who played for Jamaica last year at the Under 15 and Under 17 age group as well as some new players. The coaches will be assessing how the players can fit into the overall program and their current state of readiness for a tournament.

The delegation from Jamaica included Head Coach of the Under 17 Female team Xavier Gilbert; National Under 20 team manager Janine Mundell and Equipment Manager, Omar Folkes. They will be joined  in Florida by Lorne Donaldson.

The training will take place at the Southeastern University, Lakeland Florida. The delegation returns on June 11.

Further to respective draws conducted this week, the CONCACAF Caribbean Women’s Under 20 Qualifiers will be held July 19-23. Jamaica will play against host country Bermuda; St. Lucia and Curacao. Only the winner will advance to Round 2. The CONCACAF Caribbean Women’s Under 17 Qualifiers will be held August  2-6 and Jamaica is in Group E alongside host St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Kitts (three teams). Only the winner will advance to the next stage.
