Jamaican U20 MNT Continue WCQ Preparation

Jamaica’s two National Men’s youth teams step up preparation for world cup qualification with the staging of training camps and practice games in the coming weeks.

The National Under 17 squad has been staging camps as of December and are currently participating in the KSAFA Syd Bartlett league as one element of their local preparation. The squad has played four games to date in the league winning all as follows:

Central Kingston 4-1
Stony Hill 6-2
Seaview 4-0
Marverly 2-0

The National Under 17 squad will resume camping January 12-13 and will play Red Hills on Sunday, January 13 at the Real Mona field.

A training camp for the National Under 20 squad commences today and ends on Friday, January 11. The National Under 20 team will be the first in competition in the 2013 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, to take place from February 18 – March 2, 2013 in Mexico. This will determine the four CONCACAF teams that will participate in the2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, from June 21- July 13 in Turkey. Jamaica plays Puerto Rico in its first game on February 19.

The squad trains at the JFF Football Center at 4:00 pm today and tomorrow. The preparation of the Under 20 team will continue with planned confederation practice games as the coaching staff aims at finalising its final squad.

The Federation continues to explore possibilities for international games for both units leading into their qualification games.
